Signed Tetsu — a single character, pressed into the foot. The bowl is brown, ash-glazed, unforced. The surface speckles: amber catching where the glaze pooled, darker where it thinned. The clay shows through in places. This is not considered an imperfection.
The form is honest. Walls that hold without pretense. A rim that settles naturally into the hand. When tea is inside, the bowl recedes — which is precisely what a good bowl does. It is not the subject. It holds the subject.
