Mei: 瑞雲 — Zuiun, Auspicious Clouds. The name points nowhere specific and everywhere at once — the kind of mei that opens rather than closes. This chashaku by Gozan carries it in bamboo that has aged to a tone between gold and smoke, as if the material itself has already traveled some distance.
The proportions are considered, the presence undemanding. That is the quality of a good tea scoop: it disappears into the gesture of use, returning only when you set it down and look again.
