A shunkei-nuri natsume in warm amber lacquer, its translucent finish allowing the grain of the wood to persist as presence beneath. On the interior of the lid, the single character 完 (Kan) brushed by Horiuchi Sokan of the Omote Senke Horiuchi family — a mark of authentication that transforms an object into a named encounter. Authorship and lineage made visible in the grain and the brushstroke alike. Tomobako present.
