Maker unknown. Japanese studio pottery, mid-to-late Showa period.

Nagashigake — the poured glaze. A wide slash of white iron glaze falls across deep brown-black, arrested mid-fall. The contrast is not decorative. It is structural: two glazes meeting at the moment of transformation.

Cylindrical form, close to a tsutsugata. The walls rise with quiet authority. The interior holds a deep, still black — the colour of lacquer, the colour of shadow.

No maker's seal. The work stands without attribution.

Condition: no cracks or chips.
