A serving bowl from Mujin kiln, covered in a turquoise crackle glaze of startling depth.

The color sits between emerald and deep aqua — a glaze that appears to hold light inside itself rather than reflect it. The crackle pattern spreads across every surface in fine, deliberate lines, the result of controlled tension between glaze and clay body during cooling.

The form is broad with softly squared edges, a shape that suggests function without rigidity. It holds space generously — suited for serving, for arrangement, for stillness on a table.

Crackle glazing (kannyu) is not a flaw. It is the signature of a glaze that has found its own structure. Each firing produces a different map.
