A flat tea caddy (hira-natsume) accompanied by two interchangeable lids, each carrying a distinct seasonal motif. One lid is lacquered in red with a bold chrysanthemum crest rendered in black — the geometry of the petals precise and formal, evoking autumn formality. The second lid is deep black, with gold maki-e depicting plum branches and blossoms in early bud — a winter-into-spring image of quiet anticipation.

🔹 [ BASIC DETAILS ]
Condition: No damage. Interior lacquer excellent. Diameter 8.5 cm, height 5.3 cm.
• SKU: 260413_a_2724
• Includes: Signed wooden storage box (tomobako)

🔹 [ CULTURAL & ARTISTIC INSIGHT ]
The body sits on a dark lacquered base with clean proportions. The interior is finished in smooth black lacquer, well-preserved and intact. The capacity to switch lids allows this single utensil to serve across seasons — a practical elegance that speaks to the tea ceremony's attunement to time.

🔹 [ DEEP-DIVE COMMENTARY ]
In the chado tradition, natsume are categorized by size and form. The hira (flat) variant carries a particular informality suited to the smaller, more intimate tea gathering. The dual-lid design elevates this piece beyond a single seasonal use, making it functional across much of the year.
