A confectionery bowl and serving vessel in Hida Shunkei lacquer, produced in the mountain tradition of Gifu Prefecture. The sides are faceted, each plane catching light at a different angle, the amber-toned transparent lacquer allowing the wood grain to remain a participant rather than a substrate. The footed form is generous, the proportions settled. Approximately 24 cm in diameter, 8.5 cm tall. No cracks or chips.
