A Hagi-yaki tea bowl from Shokeisan Kiln (松桂山窯), presenting the full vocabulary of classical Hagi in a tall, composed form. The glaze is the first thing that registers: a deep pink ground threaded throughout with fine crackle lines — kannyu, the signature of Hagi ware, the glaze's slow response to time and use.

Hagi sits at the second rank of the classical tea utensil hierarchy — "one Raku, two Hagi, three Karatsu" — a position earned over centuries in the tea rooms of the great masters. The warmth of its clay, the way its porous surface absorbs the oils and residue of repeated use, the gradual deepening of color that tea people call "Hagi no nanabake" (the seven transformations of Hagi) — these qualities make Hagi bowls objects that improve with use rather than age toward obsolescence.

This bowl's tall, upright form gives it a quiet dignity. It does not solicit attention; it holds its ground. The glaze is even and deeply colored, the crackle pronounced and well-distributed. Supplied with the artist's signed tomobako inscribed "萩 茶碗 松桂".

Dimensions: approx. diameter 14 cm, height 9.5 cm
Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with age and use.
Includes: Artist's signed tomobako (original wooden box)
