The surface is covered in writing. Month names, seasonal references, dense columns of characters arranged like a sumo ranking sheet — the banzuke format, the oldest calendar of the body. Asami Yoshizo has made a vessel out of time itself.The form is deep and cylindrical. The glaze is silver-black metallic, with white patches where the surface breathes. Against this ground, the calligraphy does not compete. It accumulates.There is nothing approximate about this bowl. It is a specific idea fully realized — the year as object, held in two hands.Diameter 12 cm, height 8.5 cm. Box has staining, bowl unmarked. Tomobako present.
